Anne’s Gift to the Future
She made sure her cherished values will live on

Photo of Anne FrauloFor her entire adult life, Anne Fraulo of Hamden kept a special place in her heart for the Hospital of Saint Raphael—and her dedication has resulted in new equipment for the Saint Raphael campus of Yale New Haven Hospital.

It started many years ago, right after she graduated from college. Anne’s first job was at “Saint Rae’s,” where she worked as a medical technologist. She loved the patient-centered environment there and was proud to know that her efforts were helping the community.

That first job provided Anne with an excellent background for the 35-year career she moved on to next as a science teacher and administrator for the New Haven Board of Education.

Anne’s special connection to Saint Raphael’s grew stronger as a result of the wonderful, compassionate care that she and several members of her family received from the hospital over the years. As soon as she was able, she became a loyal donor. And she continued to give as generously as she could for more than 30 years.

Anne especially appreciated the hospital’s excellent heart and vascular services, as well as its ongoing commitment to its Catholic heritage. So when she learned that Yale New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of Saint Raphael were joining forces in 2012, she wanted to find a way to make sure that the Saint Raphael campus continued to remain strong.

She decided to leave a bequest for the Hospital of Saint Raphael in her will. She understood that planning a bequest wouldn’t affect her income, and she appreciated the fact that she could direct her gift to the medical specialty she cared about most—heart and vascular care.

Sadly, Anne passed away in 2013. But her love and appreciation of Saint Raphael’s lives on. Her gift was used to purchase a nuclear cardiology camera, which will improve the quality of stress testing for the Heart and Vascular Department on the Saint Raphael campus of Yale New Haven Hospital.

A bequest is a wonderful way to show in the future what you care about most—like Anne did. And it doesn’t cost a penny during your lifetime.
